Zebre and Benetton head into halftime deadlocked at 10-10. Zebre opened the scoring with a penalty 23 minutes in, but Benetton hit back with the game's first try around the half hour mark to lead 7-3. Benetton then picked up a yellow card to go down to 14 players. It went from bad to worse for Benetton as Zebre capitalized immediately with a penalty try, which saw Benetton pick up a second yellow card to be reduced to 13 players. Benetton slotted a penalty with the final play of the half to see the sides level at the break.
