TRY TOULON. A superb skip pass from Wilkinson allows Delon Armitage an easy 5 metre run in to score Toulon's first try of the game. The flyhalf converts with a beautifully struck attempt from the touch line. The English man is playing very well thus far in the game. 13-19
Another easy strike for Wilkinson after Oyonnax infringe at the ruck. One point game once again. 13-12
A cynical block by Ali Williams on an oncoming Oyonnax player results in a penalty inside the 22 just to the right of the posts. Urdipaletta maintains a 100% record. 13-9
That's 2 penalties now off the back of dominant scrums for Toulon. Wilkinson accurate on both attempts. 10-9
Bakkies Botha pinned for not rolling away and Urdipaletta makes it 2/2. 10-3
Jonny Wilkinson gets the away sides scoring underway with a simple penalty directly in front of the posts. Oyonnax player lucky to get away without a card after cynical play at the ruck in a threatening position.7-3
TRY OYONNAX. The home side open the account with a superbly worked try. The ball was spread to the right and it was Florian Denos who crosses in the corner to score the first try of the game. Unfortunately for the player he injured himself while scoring and has had to leave the field. Ben Urdipaletta adds the extras. 7-0
And we are off!
Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Top 14 with Oyonnax playing host to Toulon the Stade Charles Mathon. Oyonnax’s 15-16 defeat against Stade Francais last weekend brought to a halt a two-year unbeaten home run. They will have their work cut out holding back the rouge-et-noir tide of Toulon this afternoon, but I expect there will not be much in this. The hosts are tough to beat at home, as Clermont, Castres and Biarritz have already discovered. It also must be said that Bernard Laporte’s side have looked a little out of sorts in recent weeks. They defeated Bayonne narrowly in the last round but were made work hard for their victory. Veteran former Springbok flank Juan Smith is already on the injury list, just days after making his comeback. His troublesome Achilles is fine but he now has an adductor muscle issue. However the visitors will take confidence from the fact that Wallaby Drew Mitchell will make his first start in a backline that also features the return of fellow Aussie Matt Giteau. Kick-off not too far away now, I hope you enjoy the game!
Indeed. Will be a 1 sided event.
