Quentin McDonald earns a great turnover to ignite the move, the great hands from the Tasman back releases Scott down the wing, who tip toes down the line to score. Looks like a great score for the home side, but the referee brings play back as it is deemed McDonald was offside.
Another huge kick from Banks and this time it sails over, again from about 60 metres out.
TRY TASMAN! Completely against the run of play, Tevita Koloamatangi blocks down a chip from Scott Eade, collects from a good bounce, and races the length of the pitch to score. Banks with the easy conversion.
Southland still enjoying the majority of possession. Currently with a scrum outside the Tasman 22, handling errors continue to cost them at this early stage.
Huge kick from banks from 60m out, has the distance but just flashes wide of the posts.
They move it wide through Robinson, making good ground but Redmond comes up with a nice turnover in halfway. Tasman kick for the posts from well in side their own half.
Messy start from both sides, plenty of early handling errors but Southland definatly have had the better of the opening exchanges. Southland with a scrum on their own 10 metre line
