Hawkes bay manage to get the last score of the game but it just wast good enough and they were beaten by 23 points to just 10. The Bay had almost all first half possession but went in at half time with just 3 points to show for it. Taranaki on the other hand managed to make good use of the little ball they had and with a try in the first half and another in the second they managed to push into the lead early on and hold on to it throughout the game. All in all a good game of rugby played in harsh conditions.

What a try by Taranaki! Brooks makes good headway on the right and superb feet manages to stay in play. He offloads just in time to inside centre Peleseuma who falls just short of the line but momentum pushes him over for his first ever ITM cup try. Taylor converts once again from the sideline
