Cardiff take a 23-0 lead over the Sharks into halftime. Cardiff opened the scoring with an early penalty, but then picked up a yellow card. Despite being down a player, Cardiff kicked another penalty. Cardiff were then awarded a penalty try to make it 13-0, with the Sharks picking up a yellow card in the process. Cardiff added another penalty before crossing for another try with the final play of the half for a commanding lead at the break.
