Italy are currently on a run of 17 consecutive defeats and sit in 15th place in the World rankings.

Scotland finished third in last seasons tournament with three victories and two defeats, while Italy brought up the rear with no wins from their five matches. When the sides met in last years competition, Scotland edged Italy 29-27 thanks to a late penalty.
