from the restart Denton knocks forward and France camp themselves on the Scotland 5 metre line and Hogg is to the rescue with a fantastic tackle on Mermoz, but the referee brings it back for the penalty and Machenaud goes for the posts again and gets his third kick of the day as France go back in front.

A poor try for France to concede. Scotland had the advantage of a penalty and Hogg kicked a huge kick in the air to the French line and Huget and Dulin jumped in the air but neither were able to catch it cleanly and the ball eventually bounced back from Huget's hand and Hogg slid in to touch down the ball to give Scotland there opening score of the game.
