Both sides managed to top their groups but was far from plain sailing for both after both suffered shock defeats to Edinburgh and Connacht respectively. However after Munster were defeated by Edinburgh they won their remaining 5 matches and secured a home quarter-final, and as for Toulouse they looked odds on to secure a home tie but a shock loss to Connacht at home dented their hopes and so they had to settle for an away match against the mighty Munster. 4 time champions Toulouse will know they face a mammoth challenge of getting a win here today with Munster's home record in European Rugby one of the best around. And the record books are not kind for Toulouse as Munster have lost only once in their last 24 ties at home in the Heineken Cup and have never been beaten by a French team at home. These sides have met 3 times before with Munster winning 2 out of 3 them defeating Toulouse in 2000 on their way to the final where they were defeated by Northampton. Most Munster fans will remember 2008 the most though when Munster won 16-13 in the Heineken Cup final,thanks to a try from Leamy and the boot of O'Gara. A day in Cardiff that All Munster fans will remember and they will be hoping for a win here today and secure a semi-final spot and make it all the way to Cardiff again and win their third Heineken Cup in the Millenium Stadium.
