The Exeter Chiefs take a 22-13 lead over the Sale Sharks into halftime. Sale picked up a yellow card just four minutes into the match and Exeter capitalized with two early tries to lead 12-0 after the opening ten minutes. The sides then traded penalties around the midpoint of the half before a Sale try from the restart reduced the deficit to 15-10. Exeter hit back with a try around the half hour mark before Sale added a late penalty to trail by nine points at the break.
