Cardiff take a 21-7 lead over the Dragons into halftime. Cardiff missed an early penalty, but two tries in quick succession saw them race into a 14-0 lead. The Dragons hit back with a try after 23 minutes to close the gap to seven points. The Dragons then picked up a yellow card and Cardiff capitalized immediately with a try around the half mark which sees them take a 14 point advantage into the break.
