@YoungHooker Brive are definitely showing signs of the attacking rugby they played on that day! A win for the Falcons will definitely distance themselves from the rest.

Thinking of Brive I remember a stunning match in 2011: Brive V Munster.Great match with Munster coming away with a win, 42-37. That put Munster into the Amlin Challenge Cup Semi-Final,but it stopped there.Harlequins beat Munster 20-12 in Thomand Park.

An excellently worked moved by Brive sees Sola drop into the pocket and float a delicate cross field kick to his left-winger Alfie Mafi who catches the kindly bouncing ball to touchdown under the posts. Referee Phillips, not fully satisfied, consults the TMO.

Try for Falcons! Risk and reward approach from the away side as they capitalise on the man advantage and crash over the line from a rolling maul. Scott Lawson emerges from the pile of bodies and is credited with the try. Phil Godman is unsuccessful from his attempt from the touchline and the score is now 3-5.

Penalty to Falcons, deep inside the Brive 22, for illegal side-entering in a promising Newcastle rolling maul. Newcastle turn down the attempt at goal and go for the line-out. The intent is evident from the away side

Penalty to Brive! Problems begin to mount at scrum time for the visitors and Brive are awarded the penalty from just outside the halfway. Laranjeira steps up in attempt to make it two from two. But sees his effort drift to the left. The scores remain at 3-0.

Penalty to Brive! Ill-discipline at the breakdown gives referee Dudley Phillips no choice but to award the penalty. Laranjeira steps up from just inside the 10m line and slots the ball between the uprights. The hosts draw first blood. 3-0.

Hello all and welcome to Ultimate Rugby's coverage of the 2nd round of the much anticipated Amlin Challenge Cup with French side Brive playing host to the Newcastle Falcons at the Stade Amedee-Domenech. Visitors, Newcastle Falcons, will certainly be looking to make it two wins from two after a narrow win over the Bucharest Wolves last weekend. For Brive, it's a matter of getting their first win of the pool stage after a tough clash with Calvisano last weekend, ending in a draw. It's very much all to play for so let's hope it's a thriller!
