Bristol and Bordeaux come into this match with the same record in the Challenge Cup this season, each having won six matches and drawn once. Both clubs’ current streak of seven games unbeaten represents their best run in the competition.

Bristol have reached the Challenge Cup semi-final for just the second time, and their only previous appearance at this stage was a 51-27 defeat by Pau in 1999/2000. Bordeaux will be playing in their first Challenge Cup semi-final.

This is the third meeting in the competition between the two sides. Their two previous meetings came in the pool stage of the 1999/2000 tournament.
