The Blues host the Highlanders in the Final of Super Rugby Trans Tasman. Both sides won all five of their matches against Australian opposition to finish in first and second position respectively, separated by just points difference in the table. The teams met twice in Super Rugby Aotearoa, with the Blues winning the first encounter 39-17 and the Highlanders the second 35-29.
