@vivian, what has heaslip done wrong to deserve to be dropped?

Joe Murray Jun 6

@james and is probably vulnerable to being targeted by back row of Aussies. Hope he gets protection from that.

Vivian Harris Jun 6

why is Toby falitau still not in the test team. better control at the base of the scrum works harder for full 80 is it to limit the amount of welsh ???

James M. Jun 6

@joe i understand about the risks but the reason he chose youngs is he will be able to give the ball to sexton quicker and is able to attack the fringes

Joe Murray Jun 6

@james it's a big risk as he doesn't know how it will go. Would you not agree that he shouldn't be taking risks when we can win the tour today? And I think he has taken a risk with Bowe as well today given his lack of game time on tour so far. I hope it works out but given whats on the line I would have preferred him to have at least played with a tried and tested partnership at half back. Not to have tried this partnership out given all the matches so far is bad planning in my book as he has 2 out halves and 3 scrum halves. How hard was it for him to try them all together at some stage over the tour as he only had 4 combinations that hasn't played together. Phillips/sexton, Phillips/Farrell, youngs/sexton, Murray/Farrell.

Joe Murray Jun 6

@darragh no not at all. He is Munster, I am Leinster.

Colm Carey Jun 6

Lions to win comfortably by 9..

James M. Jun 6

@joe i wasnt just talking to you i was sayin in general to stop jumping to conclusions with players and yeah its a risk but gatland wouldn't have put then together if he didn't have faith

Darragh Elliott Jun 6

Any relation to Conor?

Joe Murray Jun 6

@james, I didn't bad mouth youngs. And a logical reason is they haven't played together on tour to date. Anyone with a good knowledge of the game knows that half back partnership is the link between forwards and backs. Staring with an untested partnership is always a big risk no matter how well they are playing in training together it doesn't match test match intensity. That's my reasoning for preferring a Murray/sexton combination there as its tried and tested.
