Zimbabwe name Peter de Villiers as the nations new head coach

Peter de Villiers has been named as the new coach of the Zimbabwe national team.

The appointment of the former Springbokbok coach was confirmed on Wednesday.

De Villiers will be tasked to help Zimbabwe qualify for the 2019 Rugby World Cup later this year.

Zimbabwe struggled in the African Gold Cup last year, losing to Kenya, Namibia, Tunisia and Uganda. They will be playing the same opponents in their World Cup qualifiers this year.

De Villiers was the Springboks head coach at the 2011 Rugby World Cup but has been unable to find a high-profile coaching job since.
