World Rugby supporting the My Name 5 Doddie Foundation this weekend

Late Scotland legend Doddie Weir's son Hamish and former team-mate Kenny Logan to deliver Ireland v Scotland match ball after 700-mile charity walk and cycle from Edinburgh to Paris.

World Rugby is proud to be supporting the My Name 5 Doddie Foundation in showcasing its transformational work raising awareness and funds to support Motor Neurone Disease (MND) patients and ultimately develop a cure.

Doddie Weir’s son Hamish, former Scotland rugby and football legends respectively Kenny Logan and Ally McCoist, and broadcaster Kirsty Gallacher have been undertaking an epic 700-mile walk and cycle from Edinburgh to Paris with the objective of raising £555,555 for the Foundation.

A symbol of the global rugby family’s support for this important cause, Hamish and Kenny will walk onto the field at the Ireland versus Scotland Rugby World Cup 2023 Pool B match at Stade de France on Saturday to deliver the match ball to Emirates World Rugby referee Nic Berry immediately after the anthems.

World Rugby Chairman Sir Bill Beaumont said: “Doddie was a force of nature on and off the rugby field, a legend of our sport and a role model to all.

“His strength of character was unwavering, inspiring and moving. He channelled his determination into fighting his own battle, while also fighting the battle for all MND sufferers through his tireless campaigning and fundraising. Always with a smile. Quite simply, he was a remarkable man.
