Worcester vs Gloucester game called off
- 1962
Due to ongoing Covid-19 concerns in the Gloucester camp, the decision has been taken to call off their fixture with Worcester Warriors this weekend.
It will be the second round in a row that the Cherry & Whites will not take the pitch after their derby game with Bath was cancelled last weekend for the same reasons.
Gloucester released the following statement:
“Premiership Rugby have confirmed that Gloucester Rugby’s fixture with Worcester Warriors this weekend has sadly been cancelled.
After following advice from Public Health England, we have confirmed with Premiership Rugby that as a result of our positive COVID-19 cases, and the close contact isolation protocols that follow that, we will not be able to proceed with our final fixture safely.
Whilst we are disappointed that this COVID-19 outbreak has affected our final two games of the season, the health and wellbeing of our players and staff is paramount.
Under the Premiership Rugby regulations, the match between Gloucester Rugby and Worcester Warriors will be cancelled and a Premiership Rugby panel will be convened to determine the allocation of points.
It goes without saying that this isn’t how we wished to end our season, but we’d like to take the opportunity to thank our supporters and partners for your incredible support this year.
In the continued interests of privacy, Gloucester Rugby will not be disclosing the names of those affected.”
