Will Hurd signs new deal with Tigers

Leicester Tigers are delighted to announce 25-year-old tight head prop, Will Hurd has signed a new deal with the club.

Born in Leicestershire, Hurd grew up playing for Ashby RFC, but qualifies for Scotland through his maternal grandparents, and after representing Scotland at underage level, Hurd made his senior debut for his country earlier this year.

After impressing in University Rugby, Hurd’s rugby journey saw him have a brief stint with Glasgow before joining Tigers ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Hurd would make the first of his 44 Tigers appearances against Connacht in the Challenge Cup that season and has continued to hone his craft at Oval Park alongside fellow tight heads, Dan Cole and Joe Heyes.

Will Hurd said: “I’m delighted to be staying at the club.”

“I’ve achieved some big goals of mine in the last 12 months and Leicester have been a big factor in that.

“I still have a lot of development left in me and there’s no club better than Leicester for me to do that.”

Leicester Tigers head coach, Michael Cheika added: “We are very happy that Will has chosen to be with the club."

“He has been competing excellently inside of the squad in a very competitive position and is taking great steps forward.

“Will has played international rugby already this summer and I’m extremely happy his future is here at Tigers.”
