Sam Egerton signs with Newcastle Falcons
Egerton, fresh from making his World Sevens Series debut for England in
Singapore last weekend, has signed a contract with the Falcons and will join
the side at the start of the 2016/2017 season.
“Sam is an exceptional player," said Director of Rugby, Dean Richards.
“He boasts strong decision-making ability, has a good break on him and knows
his way to the try-line. He will be a good addition to our squad, which already
has a successful former England Sevens player in the form of Marcus Watson.”
Josh Bekhuis bound for France
Blues have announced Bekhuis' move to French club Lyon after only one season
with the side. The lock officially signed his contract three weeks ago but Blues
released a statement expanding on his decision to make his European move
earlier today.
Bekhuis is said to have decided on the move with his wife Micaela and the pair
whom felt ready to explore a new culture overseas.
"I'm interested in learning a new language," said Bekhuis. "Lyon
is the second biggest city in France and apparently quite beautiful, so we're
really looking forward to going over."
New contract for Osprey's Ashley Beck
Ospreys have extended his contract for two years which is great news for the
player who has been sidelined for most of the season. Beck injured his ACL in
the opening weekend of the season and is eager to return to the field.
“It’s been a tough year for me, it seems like a really long time since I played any rugby, but the good thing is that, fingers crossed, I’m raring to go and really excited about getting back into action. I’m someone that always wants to be playing every week but I’ve had to be patient and work my way back to fitness with the physios and conditioners. I’ve had great support, from them, from the coaches, everybody at the Ospreys, and now that I’m back in training I just want to pay them back for that support.”
