Jacques Brunel named France head coach

Jacques Brunel will takeover the reins for France in the Six Nations after Guy Novès was sacked as the national team head coach.

The former Toulouse boss was contracted until the end of the 2019 World Cup but has endured a torrid two years since taking over from Philippe Saint-André. Full story

Bath fined over Faletau's release


Bath Rugby have confirmed that they have received a fine of £60,000 from Premiership Rugby following the release of Taulupe Faletau to play in a Wales test match outside the IRB 9 window this autumn.

Adam Thomson 'walking again, expected to make full recovery'

Former All Black and Otago loose forward Adam Thomson has regained mobility and is expected to make a full recovery from the illness that has kept him hospitalised for more than a week.

The 35-year-old was admitted to a Japanese hospital last Tuesday after experiencing "excruciating" pain that left him unable to walk and initially had doctors baffled. 

According to Thomson's representative Brooke Howard-Smith, the flanker has been diagnosed with lumbar discitis — an infection in the intervertebral disc space. Full story

Jonny May escapes further punishment

The charges against Leicester Tigers Jonny May were heard on papers by an independent single judicial officer. The player was shown a red card after receiving two yellow cards – Law 10.4(m) – in the match Leicester Tigers v Saracens on Sunday 24 December 2017. 


The sanction table set out at Appendix 1 to RFU Regulation 19 determines that the sanction for two yellow cards, where both are given for technical offences, is sending off sufficient.
