Dmitrii Gerasimov appeal dismissed
An independent Appeal Committee has dismissed an appeal by the Enisei-STM player, Dmitrii Gerasimov, against the nine-week suspension imposed on him after he was cited for foul play during his club's Challenge Cup, Round 2 match against the Dragons on 21 October 2017.
It was determined that Gerasimov struck the Dragons flanker, Ollie Griffiths, with his shoulder in contravention of Law 10.4 (a). Griffiths suffered a broken jaw as a result of the incident.
The Committee was satisfied that both the finding of foul play and the level of sanction were reasonable and decided to dismiss the appeal. Therefore, Gerasimov's suspension which takes into account meaningful matches remains in place and he is free to play on 13 January 2018.
