The Waratahs’ kicked off their preparation for the upcoming Super Rugby season with an impressive 40-21 victory over the Highlanders at Leichhardt Oval in Sydney.
The Waratahs' youngsters stole the show against the Highlanders with Michael McDonald finishing off one of the tries of the game.
Star of the show and fullback Mark Nawaqanitawase moved to the wing in the last quarter but still helped set up a superb try with a hard carry around the corner. He offloaded in contact to lock Nick Champion de Crespigny, who in turn found Angus Bell, and the young prop also offloaded backhand to reserve halfback Michael McDonald, who scored.
