WATCH: Super Rugby Refs Forced To Make Near Impossible Decision Over Hurricanes Try

A last gasp penalty saw the Hurricanes snatch a 27-24 away win over the Chiefs in round 7 of Super Rugby. The Hurricanes opened the scoring with an early try, but the Chiefs hit back with a penalty before crossing for their first try to lead 10-7 midway through the first half.

The Hurricanes responded with their second score to head into the halftime break holding a 14-10 advantage. 

There was an insanely difficult call for Jaco Peyper to make early in the second half as Jordie Barrett kicked the forward with him and Damian McKenzie tearing after the ball. The two fullbacks both looked to have dived on the ball simultaneously.

Jaco Peyper broke the record for the most capped referee in Super Rugby during the fixture and came to the conclusion that there was no conclusive evidence that a try was scored and awarded a scrum to the Chiefs.

The Chiefs would go on to score first in the second half, with a try 15 minutes in edging them in front.

The Hurricanes then picked up a yellow card with TJ Perenara punished for a high tackle. It went from bad to worse for the visitors as the Chiefs capitalized immediately with another try seeing them take control of the match leading 24-14 heading into the final quarter.

However, the Hurricanes stopped the bleeding with a penalty shortly after to make it a seven-point ball game. The Hurricanes then ran in their third try to level things up at 24-24 with ten minutes to play and set up an intense finish.

With the match destined for a draw, the Hurricanes worked it through over 30 phases without making much headway until the valiant Chiefs defence finally infringed allowing Jordie Barrett to slot the penalty well after the siren to seal a dramatic victory.
