In what was his final derby match for Racing 92, former All Black flyhalf Dan Carter was on the wrong end of a stiff elbow from Stade Francais prop Zurabi Zhvania.
The front rower spent ten minutes in the sin bin following the incident.
Carter was left clutching his throat but looked to have recovered fully from the blow as he completed the half before Racing 92's coaching staff made a bold tactical change by making 6 substitutions 5 minutes into the second half, including Pat Lambie replacing Carter.
