Jono Gibbes' men have put their poor start well and truly behind them after they claimed their fourth successive victory today.
The Waikato pack stepped up today against a tough Bay of Plenty pack to claim a 21-54 victory.
James Tucker – Waikato
The massive Waikato lock had another outstanding game as he continues his claim for a Super Rugby contract.
Tucker managed to score a try for Waikato as well as setting two up as he broke through the line and handed it over to his 7-flanker who scored the try. Tucker proved to be an integral part of the team as he not only contributed on the points front but on the composure front too.
Samisoni Taukei’aho – Waikato
The Waikato hooker showed that you don’t have to be a back to be able to contribute a lot of points as he managed to bag two tries for his team.
Taukei’aho managed to score from two driving mauls as he proved deadly in placing the ball over the chalk. Taukei’aho also proved to be a brilliant runner as he made some good ground for Waikato, allowing them to be even more deadly on attack.
Quinn Tupaea – Waikato
The 18 year-old had an impressive night as he too managed to score two tries, one being set up for him by James Tucker and the other coming from a kick which he charged down successfully. It was a brilliant performance from the youngster when it mattered most. The young centre is another star to earmark for the future.
Bailey Simonsson – Bay of Plenty
Bailey Simonsson contributed to half of the points on the Bay of Plenty scoreboard. Simonsson’s try was pure class as he carried the ball over the line following an amazing run of play from the Bay of Plenty team. Simonsson not only scored a try but also contributed in making this game enjoyable to watch by allowing the Bay of Plenty players to never give up.
