Conor Fitzgerald’s 61st-minute penalty saw the Westerners retake the lead, and their first victory of the season was sealed when replacement Paul Boyle barged over in the 78th minute.
URC Round 4 Round Up
- 1825
The Lions kicked off URC Round 4 with a 22-19 victory against Edinburgh at the DAM Health Stadium.
Both teams scored three tries in a bruising battle that burst into life after a largely uneventful first half, but the Lions just deserved the win thanks to their apparently endless reserves of energy.
Connacht Rugby Vs Munster Rugby
Connacht crowned their first appearance on the Sportsground’s new 4G pitch with a dogged 20-11 BKT United Rugby Championship derby win over Munster.
A Ben Healy penalty split the teams at half-time, Munster leading 8-5 after Patrick Campbell’s first URC try had cancelled out an earlier effort from Mack Hansen.
The defending champion Stormers maintained their unbeaten start to the United Rugby Championship with a 37-20 away win over Zebre Parma in round 4. It took just five minutes for the Stormers to open the scoring with a try and they followed that up with a penalty to make it 10-0.
Leinster made it four wins from four with a thrilling 54-34 home victory over the Sharks in the United Rugby Championship. Leinster struck first with a try just three minutes in, but the Sharks hit back with a score shortly after to level matters at seven apiece after ten minutes of play.
Cardiff picked up their first win since Round 1 as they beat the Scarlets 16-10 in Llanelli.
Despite being behind with five minutes to go, the Scarlets had their visitors firmly under the cosh and looked like snatching victory until Vaea Fifita was red-carded for a dangerous clearout on Shane Lewis-Hughes to end any hope of a turnaround.
Johnny McNicholl accounted for the Scarlets’ only touchdown, while Leigh Halfpenny kicked five points.
Ulster Rugby Vs Ospreys
Glasgow Warriors got their BKT United Rugby Championship campaign back on track with an impressive 35-21 victory over the Vodacom Bulls at Scotstoun Stadium.
The Warriors had been beaten by Ospreys last time out but bounced back with a scintillating first-half performance against last season's finalists, which paved the way for the win.
Benetton Rugby Vs Dragons
Impressive Benetton beat the Dragons 34-14 to climb into fourth place in the BKT United Rugby Championship.
Giacomo Nicotera, Lorenzo Cannone, Edoardo Padovani and Mattia Bellini scored tries for the Italian side, with Tomas Albornoz adding 14 points to maintain his 100 per cent goal-kicking record this season.
Rio Dyer and Steff Hughes claimed second-half tries for Dragons, who stay 13th in the table and have not won in Treviso since 2015.
