Two backs re-sign with the Hurricanes

Two of the most exciting young backs on the Hurricanes playing roster have re-signed with the club until the end of 2020.
Versatile utility backs Vince Aso and Wes Goosen have underlined their commitment to the Hurricanes by extending their current contracts.
Aso, 23, joined the Hurricanes in 2015 but had to wait a season before he made his debut. Aso was devastating in the Hurricanes backline in 2017, scoring 14 tries to end the season as the second highest try scorer behind Ngani Laumape.
Goosen, 22, has also shown he has a bright future in the Hurricanes having made his debut in 2016. The wing and midfielder, who made an immediate impression in his first match, scoring a try with his first touch of the ball, had an excellent pre-season campaign this season and was selected to start against the Bulls in Pretoria.
Unfortunately for Goosen, he injured his ankle and has been sidelined since, although he continues to make good progress towards his return.
Hurricanes assistant coach John Plumtree, who will take over as head coach in 2019, was delighted to have the pair's signature for the next two seasons.
"There is a lot of competition out there for the sort of talent that these two guys have so it's great that they want to stay with the Hurricanes and continue to build on what they have achieved so far," he said.
"They are definitely the kind of people we want in the future."
Plumtree's comments were echoed by assistant coach Jason Holland who was looking forward to working closely again with Aso and Goosen over the next two seasons, as well as for the remainder of the 2018 campaign that was still in its infancy.
"I really believe they will continue to show just how talented they are and show how much they can contribute to the Hurricanes squad."
