Louw out until 2017
South Africa will be without Francois Louw on their end-of-year tour after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury, Bath have confirmed.
"Francois suffered a hamstring injury which will keep him out for about ten weeks," said his club's communications manager.
The 31-year-old suffered the injury against New Zealand in the defeat in Durban, ruling him out until next year.
South Africa will face the Barbarians, England, Italy and Wales in November after a disappointing Rugby Championship.
Carter cleared for doping
Racing 92 fly-half Dan Carter has confirmed that the French Rugby Federation has informed him that he has been cleared of doping.
Carter and Racing team-mates Joe Rokocoko and Juan Imhoff were questioned by a commission last week after they tested positive for corticosteroids following the 2015/16 Top 14 Final.
“Just received the ruling from the FFR today," said Carter on his Instagram page.
“No surprises that the FFR’s ruling was that I’d done nothing wrong. I hold my integrity and the game of rugby’s integrity in the highest regard.
“I love this game and owe so much to rugby that I would never do anything intentionally to bring it into disrepute.
“I appreciate all of the support I have had, it means a lot to me and my family.
“Whilst this whole episode is disappointing and frustrating, I support the authorities who work hard to ensure our game is played fairly.
“I am glad that we can now put all this behind us so I can now concentrate on playing rugby!”
Lyon sue after Mostert's Japan move
French rugby club Lyon are taking legal action after South African international Franco Mostert moved to Japan despite a two-year deal with the Top 14 side.
"Lyon Rugby notes with horror that Franco Mostert is in Japan and is training with the Ricoh Black Rams while he has committed to 2 years with our club," the club said on their website on Monday.
The arrival of the 25-year-old lock, who has four Springboks caps, had been announced by the French club on March 16 along with eleven other recruits.
"Faced with this serious violation of contract, law and basic values of rugby which are that a commitment be respected, the club will take all the necessary measures to see justice is done and today is approaching the competent legal and rugby authorities," said the club.
Havili re-signs with Crusaders
David Havili has re-signed with the Crusaders through to 2019, adding some of his trademark flair to the club's backline again next season.
“David is a joy to watch play, with his combination of grit and grace. At just 21 years of age and only three years into his professional career, Dave has very quickly made his mark, but I believe that the best is yet to come. I look forward to working with him next season and seeing him continue to develop into the formidable player I know he is going to be,” Crusaders Head Coach Scott Robertson said.
Havili, who is the son of former Nelson Bays winger Bill Havili, hails from the upper end of the Crusaders catchment, and launched his professional career with Tasman in the 2014 national provincial competition.
