Juan Smith
Toulon's loose trio performed well to snuff out the potent La Rochelle attack, with all 3 players making more than 10 tackles respectively.
However, it was the former Springbok flanker that stood out, the 35-year-old flanker made 14 tackles throughout the match and did his usual grunt work hitting the rucks hard for the full 80 minutes, while carrying the ball 7 times.
Camille Lopez
Lopez had a fantastic game for Clermont scoring 2 crucial tries at telling moments for his club.
He constantly questioned the defence with clever passes and kicks throughout the match.
His defensive performance was impressive as well making all 6 of his attempted tackles and was on hand to clear the ball into touch when need be.
Chris Masoe
Chris Masoe had a game to remember in what was his last match in the Racing 92 jersey.
The 38-year-old flanker carried the ball 17 times in the match scoring twice.
Masoe was also yellow carded for tackling Damian Penaud in the air.
He capped off the evening with a conversion taking his points tally to 12 on the night.
Kevin Gourdon
The French flanker had an outstanding game up front for La Rochelle, with a massive effort on defence making 15 tackles.
His attacking game was even more impressive as he carried the ball 10 times, making 4 offloads, beating 2 defenders and breaking through the defence once.
Anthony Belleau
Belleau had an evening he will never forget, the 21-year-old playmaker won the match for Toulon with his 80-minute drop goal.
That was not all the youngster did, he attacked the defensive line well beating 4 defenders on his way to making 49 metres.
Belleau's final kick may have won the game for Toulon but his overall kicking was impressive, as he relieved the pressure, with some excellent touch finders.
