Beck out for season: Ashley Beck is facing a lengthy lay-off after it was confirmed that he suffered a ruptured ACL in last Friday's defeat to Ulster.

Chris Towers, Medical Performance Manager, Chris Towers, said:

"Initial investigations have confirmed the injury as an ACL rupture and Ashley will see a knee specialist this week. All being well he will undergo surgery before the end of the week.

"His rehab will then begin immediately. For this kind of injury we are looking at an estimated eight-month recovery period for him to be back to full fitness.”

Beck has won seven caps for Wales, including four starts since his debut in 2012 with the serious injury preventing him from adding any further caps in the Rugby World Cup or Six Nations.

Kaino an option at 2nd row: All Blacks forward Jerome Kaino is working on fine-tuning his game in order to provide cover in the second row during the Rugby World Cup.

Steve Hansen has opted for three specialists in Brodie Retallick, Sam Whitelock and Luke Romano, with Kaino and Victor Vito able to help out.

"It wasn't too bad,” said Kaino.

"Obviously you have to stick your head in some dark places in the tight five, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and it adds a string to my bow.

"The running lines] are different but we understand the game that we want to play and what we want to achieve so it isn't too hard to adapt," he said.

"Wherever the coaches want me, I'll jump and scrum wherever they want me to. There are different areas you need to work on - obviously the dark arts of scrummaging.

"But I've been there before and I've scrummaged, and Crono has got some good tips for me. It wasn't too bad. I wouldn't call it hard. It was different.”
