Steenson staying on: Exeter Chiefs fans are waking up to good news this morning, as reports filter through of flyhalf Gareth Steenson extending his current stay at the club beyond the coming year. Steenson, who has been a stalwart at the club, represents the latest squad member yo prolong his stay at Rob Baxter’s Chiefs. Havign joined the club in 2008 from the Cornish Pirates, Steenson has already written his name into Chiefs folklore, having notched up a hugely impressive 1565 points for the club in his six years to date. Despite already enjoying a high level of success within the club, Steenson is now focused on delivering more results to the Devon based outfit, with European challenges at the forefront of his mind.
Bulls lose prop: South African outfit the Bulls have today announced the retirement of prop Frik Kirsten from the game due to a serious neck injury. The former Junior Springbok suffered the injury in what was his 34th appearance in a Bulls jersey and has since gone under the knife in an attempt to repair any damage. However, despite undergoing surgery, at 26 Kirsten has been advised by specialist doctors not to play the sport again. Having studied Accounting at college in his previous years, Kirstern will now reitre from the professional sphere of the game an defocus his attention on a career within the accounting realm of the world.
