Two trophies up for grabs in North v South match
Two trophies of different eras and origins will be up for grabs during the Steinlager North v South match with the stunning Te Matau a Māui - The Fishhook of Maui - unveiled in Wellington today.
Te Matau a Māui, a carved rimu fish hook on a kauri base, will be presented to the winning team at Sky Stadium on Saturday night alongside the recently discovered Loving Cup, a trophy first presented to the 1924 All Blacks nearly a century ago.
Ken Owens appointed as the first players’ representative on the Scarlets Board
Scarlets have announced that captain Ken Owens has been appointed as the first players’ representative on the Scarlets Board.
“It is great that the Scarlets have recognised that the players should have a voice and also a vote in the decisions that ultimately affect them," said Owens.
"I am looking forward to working together with the Board for the good of the Scarlets and the region.”
Yorkshire Carnegie to revert to old name of Leeds Tykes
Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union side are reverting to their old name of Leeds Tykes and will leave Headingley.
The club was known as Leeds Tykes until 2006 and dropped out of the Premiership in 2011.
