Solomone Kata re-signs with Leicester Tigers

Leicester Tigers are excited to announce centre, Solomone Kata has signed a new deal with the club.

Kata joined Leicester ahead of the 2023/24 season and has made 25 appearances to date in Tigers colours.

The 30-year-old was born in Tonga and was first noticed playing rugby at Sacred Heart School in Auckland.

An international player in both union and rugby league, Kata burst onto the scene for the NZ Warriors in the National Rugby League competition before making the shift back to rugby with the ACT Brumbies in 2020.

After brief stints with Moana Pasifika in Super Rugby, and with Exeter Chiefs, Kata has found a home in Leicester and has already become a favourite of the Mattioli Woods Welford Road faithful.

Solomone Kata said: “I’m happy to re-sign at this great club.”

“My family are settled here in Leicester, and I am enjoying working with the coaches and the atmosphere around the club.

“I think my best days as a player are ahead of me and I’ll always give my all for the fans and for my teammates while I’m here.”

Leicester Tigers head coach, Michael Cheika added: “I’m really pleased for Sol and for the club that he will be sticking around for the long term."
