Sky Sports out of contention for Pro16 broadcasting rights

After being strong favourites to secure the broadcasting rights for the Pro16, Sky Sports have put themselves out of contention for the deal.

The competition now seems set to stay with Premier Sports but a new deal is expected to be negotiated with the BBC and S4C also having the opportunity to broadcast games.

The financial value of the competition will increase significantly with the introduction of the South African contingent of the Bulls, Sharks, Lions and Stormers.
