Six Nations Team Of The Week Round Four

Another round of Six Nations action has come to an end with Wales, England and Ireland all in with a chance of claiming the title with Wales one victory away from winning the Grand Slam.

 
This weekend's action saw Wales survive a second-half Scottish onslaught to win at Murrayfield while England thumped Italy and Ireland kept their chances of retaining the title alive.
 
 
 
 
 
1. Allan Dell - Scotland
 
A tough choice with Cian Healy causing mayhem at the Aviva while Ellis Genge impressed at Twickenham but the Scotsman gets the nod with his work around the park. He made 12 tackles and made 36 running metres, even if most of those were from his lovely break down the wing.
 
 
 
 
2. Ken Owens - Wales
 
An absolute workhorse at Murrayfield making 14 tackles and 10 carries in just over an hour. His lineout throws found his jumpers and got through a ton of work in the rucks. Jamie George came close but just missed out as too did Stuart McInally.
 
 
 
 
3. Tomas Francis - Wales
 
 
 
Held his own in the scrums, made 13 tackles and did just enough to edge Tadgh Furlong and Kyle Sinckler to a place in the side.
 
 
 
 
 
 
4. Felix Lambey - France
 
 
 
Joe Launchbury was busy for just over an hour for England while Iain Henderson was aggressive for Ireland but the young Frenchman gets the nod despite his efforts being in vain. 
 
 
 
Lambey has easily one of the best French players out on the Aviva on Sunday and racked up an impressive 28 tackles. He was subsittuted just after the hour mark after a warrior-like performance. 
 


 
 
5. James Ryan - Ireland
 
 
 
Another titanic performance by the young Irishman who continues to impress each week. Ryan hit double digits in the carry and tackle counts and was rightfully named man of the match in the win over France.
 
 
George Kruis was outstanding for England charging down a kick to score and repeating that for Shields' try while racking up 16 tackles and running a tidy shift at the lineout, while Alun Wyn Jones led from the front against Scotland, as he usually does.
 
 
 
 
6. Brad Shields - England
 
Eddie Jones is building some depth on the blindside of his scrum with Wilson and Shields putting in strong performances so far in the Six Nations. Shields scored a brace, made 20 tackles, gained over 50 running metres and got stuck into the rucks.
 
 
 
Peter O'Mahony played at his usual high standard while Josh Navidi was excellent at Murrayfield.
 
 
 
7. Justin Tipuric - Wales
 
 
 
 
Tipuric was all over Murrayfield making 25 tackles without missing and was at his usual best at the breakdown. Hamish Watson was outstanding off the bench for Scotland as too was Jack Conan for Ireland. 
 
 
 
 
8. CJ Stander - Ireland
 
Stander wasted little time settling back in the starting line up and was brutal in his approach. Far and away the best 8 this weekend he made 17 carries and 15 tackles racking up 32 running metres and came up with a try assist. 
 
 


 
 
 
 
9. Conor Murray - Ireland
 
Murray claims a place in our side with none of the scrumhalves having standout games. Youngs, Davies and Murray all had solid games with the Irishman's performance against France giving him the edge. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
10. Jonathan Sexton - Ireland
 
Gareth Anscombe and Owen Farrell had strong games for their respective sides but the Irishman gets the #10 jersey in the end. Sexton controlled the game brilliantly and broke his 30 game try-scoring drought with a classic Sexton loop.

11. Josh Adams - Wales
 
Adams shot Wales into a lead with his stellar footwork against Scotland. He was excellent under the high ball. He racked up 66 running metres and beats Jacob Stockdale and Jonny May to place in the side.
 
 


 
 
 
12. Hadleigh Parkes - Wales
 
Parkes put in a strong performance, particularly on defence, against Scotland and was rewarded with the man of the match accolade. He covered well, come away with a crucial aerial win and was simply superb technically. 
 
 


Bundee Aki and Ben Te'o did give Parkes a good run for the 12 jersey but Parkes takes it. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
13. Manu Tuilagi - England
 
 
 
 
The shift from inside centre to outside has extremely rewarding for Tuilagi this weekend as he ripped through the Italian defence scoring two tries, assisting another and racked up 82 running metres beating 4 defenders.
 
 
 
 
Jonathan Davies was excellent for Wales scoring a try and assisting another. Garry Ringrose was superb against France but narrowly misses out. 
 
 
 


 
14. Joe Cokansiga - England
 
 
 
Breakthrough performance for the young England star as he made over 100 metres on his way to claiming the man of the match award as England trounced the Italians at Twickenham. 
 


Keith Earls enjoyed another stellar performance against France but losses out to the big winger.
 
 
 
 
 
15. Jordan Larmour - Ireland
 
 
 
Larmour beat defenders with ease and got his game off to a great start with a super touch finder into the French 22 which ultimately lead to a try for his captain. Larmour injected pace into the Irish backline and was superb considering he wasn't originally selected to start. 
 
 
 
Elliot Daly pushed the youngster for a place in the side with a great performance against Italy.
