- 1250
Ireland won with plenty to spare as they defeated Scotland 28-8 in this Round 4 game of the RBS 6 Nations Championship. The game lacked fluidity in the early stages and Scotland took a 3-0 lead inside 12 minutes with a decent strike from Greig Laidlaw. Ireland responded with an intercept try through Jacob Stockdale - A carbon copy of his score in Round 3 against Wales. From here Ireland looked dominant and gained a strong foothold in the game. Stockdale crossed for his second try in the last play of the first half when Garry Ringrose combined with Aki on a looping run and unselfishly passed to Stockdale who scored in the corner. The scoreboard read 14-3 at the interval.
The hosts flew out of the traps in the second half and when Conor Murray crossed for a try on the back of the well-set maul, the victory was set in stone. Scotland responded with a try from the impressive youngster Blair Kinghorn in the corner and narrowed the deficit to 21-8 with 25 minutes remaining. Ireland had the final say however as Sean Cronin bundled his way over on the back of a well set rolling maul with 10 minutes remaining. All roads point to Twickenham next week where the grandslam is on the line! FT Ireland 28 Scotland 8
