Harlequins have announced that tighthead prop Simon Kerrod has extended his time at Harlequins with a new deal
Kerrod arrived at Harlequins ahead of the 2019/20 campaign from Gallagher Premiership rivals Worcester Warriors, and has since gone on to make 39 appearances for the Club.
The 28-year-old earned a call-up to Eddie Jones’ England squad last October ahead of the 2020 Autumn Nations Cup after an impressive start to his first season as a Harlequin.
The South African-born prop first moved to the UK to join Greene King IPA Championship side Jersey Reds in 2016 from Eastern Province Kings in South Africa. Prior to his move to England, Kerrod also played for the Sharks in Durban, and went on to play for the South African Barbarians against Saracens in London in 2013.
Thrilled to sign a new deal to remain in South West London, Kerrod said: “It’s great to sign a new contract with Harlequins. I’ve never been at a club before where I felt so valued and welcomed.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at The Stoop so far and can’t wait to keep working and pushing to see the heights we can hit as a team, and hopefully higher honours personally.
“We have some incredible talent here and have shown recently what we’re capable of, and there’s more to come.
“There’s real competition for places here and it’s only driving our standards up. It’s a great place to be and I’m delighted to continue being a part of what’s happening here.”
Commenting, Harlequins Scrum Coach Adam Jones said: “Simon’s been fantastic since joining us in 2019. He’s a strong scrummager and a fantastic all-round set-piece operator as well as being a dynamic front row around the pitch.
“We have a fantastic set of front rows at the Club at the moment, and Simon’s re-signing highlights our strength in depth in that area.
“It was great to see Simon included in England’s squad late last year and know how well-earned that inclusion was. I’m sure he will continue to kick on with us here at Quins.”
