Northampton Saints have signed wing Gabriel Hamer-Webb on a short-term contract as cover for injured players and those on international duty.
The 23-year-old former England Under-20s international will add some extra firepower to the men in Black, Green and Gold’s back three, having joined up with the squad at cinch Stadium at Franklin’s Gardens until the end of the month.
Saints are currently without the likes of back three players James Ramm, Tom Seabrook and George Hendy – with the trio ruled out through injury – while George Furbank and Tommy Freeman will join up with the England squad for a training camp next week ahead of the start of the Guinness Six Nations.
Hamer-Webb came through the Academy system at Bath Rugby, and played 32 senior matches for the West Country club, scoring four tries.
Since departing Bath at the end of last season, he spent three months representing Southland Stags in the New Zealand Provincial Championship (eight appearances, two tries), before joining Cardiff Rugby in November and scoring twice in four matches across the United Rugby Championship and Investec Champions Cup competitions.
