Premiership Highlights: Gloucester v Bath
- 1349
Gloucester run out convincing winners in the West Country derby despite not being entirely convincing. Franco Mostert provided the spark for the first try as he sprinted through a gap from a wonderfull pass by Willi Heinz before Jason Woodward marked his return with a try in the corner. Rhys Priestland kept Bath in the game with his boot as Bath took a 7-9 lead into the break. Freddie Clarke finished off a nice team try as Gloucester regained the lead but a terrible kick from Cipriani and a Rhys Priestland penalty saw Bath level things moments later. Priestland would add Bath's final points in the 55th minute as man of match Jake Pollderi inspired Gloucester to an emphatic final 30. He made an incredible break in the build up to Gerbrandt Grobler's try before doing the same for Ruan Ackermann's moments later. The two sides battled the next 15 minutes with neither side really getting the edge before Gloucester got a penalty which Billy Twelvetrees converted to put the game beyond Bath's reach. The 14 point victory is Gloucester's biggest win over Bath in over 9 years as they kicked the New Year in style. Up next for Gloucester is a clash against Montpellier at Kingsholm while face Harlequins at the Rec.
