Playoff spots on the line in the final round of the PRO D2
- 1955
There is still plenty to play for the final round of the PROD2 on Thursday evening.
League leaders Mont-de-Marsan cemented the top spot on the table and head to Provence in final round action. While Mont-de-Marsan have nothing to play for in the final round, Provence are still in with a chance of making the playoffs.
A win of any kind could see Provence claim the final spot in the playoffs, provided that Colomiers beat Agen.
Colomiers host Agen who were relegated from the Top 14 last season. Sitting in 12th place, Agen can only improve their position after a disappointing season but Colomiers could move into the Top 4 and grab a home playoff game.
Standing in Colomiers' way of a home playoff game is the likes of Bayonne, Oyonnax, USON Nevers, and Carcassonne.
Bayonne and Oyonnax are tied on 95 league points in second and third place with the second-placed Club proceeding straight to the semi-finals of the competition.
Bayonne host relegation-threatened Rouen while Oyonnax are away to Aurillac, who are ranked 10th overall and are safe from relegation.
Bayonne were one of the two Clubs who dropped down from the Top 14 last season while Oyonnax dropped down during the 2017/18 season.
As for USON Nevers, they host Montauban who are also safe from the drop but are also not in contention for a playoff place. A win won't see Nevers finish higher than fourth with third-placed Oyonnax holding a 18 point advantage. A loss though could see them miss out on the playoffs.
Fifth-placed Carcassonne go up against former Top 14 heavyweights Beziers. Unlike Nevers, Carcassonne can move up a place into third but they could finish as low as seventh.
Elsewhere in the League, RC Vannes are away to Narbonne with the hosts playing their final game of the PRO D2 for at least another season after their relegation was confirmed earlier in the season.
Grenoble have avoided relegation and can only finish as low as 13th. They do have a testing match up ahead of them, however, as they host Bourg en Bresse. The visitors know that anything less than a victory will send them into a promotion-relegation. A win may not even be enough if Rouen manage to claim league points against Bayonne.
It promises to be a thrilling final round of the PRO D2 and you can follow all the action in App.
