Scotland put on a spirited performance against the South Africa today, although the scoreline may reflect differently, the Scott's puton a valiant effort in both halves. Join us as we take a look at the player ratings
15. Tom Jordan 8/10
The Glasgow Warriors outside back had an amazing game with ball in hand, to the point it looked like he had completed a try assist to Ben Whits, only for the try to be disallowed. He displayed excellent ball carrying and running before being subbed off in the 72nd min.
14. Blair Kinghorn 5.5/10
Not the most active of games for Kinghorn, however he did display Good tactical kicking under pressure, and good defense making 4 of his 5 tackles and completing a turnover.
13. Huw Jones 7/10
After a fairly quiet first half, Jones found his feet in The 2nd half and began to assert his dominance, upping the tempo and attacking with intent all while gaining vital ground with his 48 metres from 8 carries.
12. Sione Tuipulotu 8.5/10
The skipper put on a performance worthy of a man of the match award. From having created a try that was disallowed, to making the most carries for Scotland after the first half in both halves and created what almost became a scoring opportunity off a breakdown after pressuring Springbok Fly-half Jaden Hendrikse.
11. Duhan van der Merwe 6.8/10
A brilliant line break from the South African born winger, gave the Scott’s momentum that almost led to try, but a Matt Fagerson knock on the 5 saw the attack amount to nothing. He did however begin to find his feet in the second half as he ended his game with 5 defenders beaten along with 26 metres gained from 4 carries.
10. Finn Russell 9/10 – Bath Rugby (80)
Noting short of spectacular from the Bath man, as he scored all of Scotlands points, as he spearheaded the Scottish attack.
9. Ben White 6.8/10 – Toulon (22)
The Toulon scrum-half seemed to have timing issues at the scrum and breakdown, feeding the ball and using it late. He did also scored a try that was disallowed in the first half, before being brought Off in the 69th minute. His defense was impressive however, making 14/15 tackles.
8. Jack Dempsey 6.5/10
It was a very strong start for Dempsey in the first half, as he made the most tackles, and the second most carries for Scotland in 1st half. However his evening was cut short after he was subbed off for Josh Bayliss.
7. Rory Darge 5/10 – Glasgow Warriors (23)
Not much can be said about Darge's comtributions on attack, however his defense is a totally different story, completing 12 tackles and not missing a single one, before he was brougt off in the 61st minute.
6. Matt Fagerson 6.8/10
Glasgow's open side flanker, showed his wide skillset on the day, contributing greatly at the breakdown, making 14 tackles and complted an impressive 9 passes before being taken Off in the 63rd minute.
5. Scott Cummings 5/10
It was a great start for Cummings who was dominant at the line out stealing 2 off South Africa's balls. His night was cut short when got a 20 minute red card at the 10 minute mark and was eventually subbed off.
4. Grant Gilchrist 7/10
It was a good showing for the Edinburgh man who looked really good at the lineout as well, but defense is where he truly shined, completing 15/15 tackles, and winning two turnovers in the process.
3. Zander Fagerson 6/10
Fagerson put on a strong display at the scrum in the first half, but conceded a penalty to a Fresh Vincent Koch in the second half before coming off at the 65th minute mark.
2. Ewan Ashman 7/10 – Edinburgh Rugby (20)
Strong defensive display. Excellent at the line out.
1. Pierre Schoeman 6/10 – Edinburgh Rugby (35)
Strong at the scrum. Amazing technical play at the breakdown. Off 61st minute
