Namibian Head coach Coetzee - 'Le Roux Malan has had successful surgery'

On the injury to Le Roux Malan:

“From a physical point of view, he was operated on last night. There's a fracture and a dislocation, so it’s quite tough for him.

“The sooner they've done the operation, the better for his recovery and also for the season ahead. Very successful operation that he had, according to the doctor.

“I think he’s here until Monday or Tuesday, and then he’ll fly out.”

On whether a replacement has been called up:

“We will make the call shortly. It will be an outside back. We’ve got a couple of names, that’s up for discussion now in our coaches meeting."

On the gesture shown to Malan by the All Blacks:

“What was actually very good, and I hope it will help in a way, is the gesture from the All Blacks to hand him a signed jersey, a number 12 jersey signed by the whole team.

“It says a lot about the sportsmanship of this World Cup, it’s a good gesture from the All Blacks.

“That is not just saying the ethos and the culture and the values of rugby, but actually living and feeling it. That to me is unbelievable of the All Blacks to do something like that.”

On the injury to Adriaan Booysen:

“The doctor just came back from the hospital now, from (seeing) Le Roux. He’s busy assessing Adriaan.

“In his case it was just a shoulder dislocation. It came back easily but we don’t know the extent of the trauma in the shoulder in this point in time.

“We’ll make a final call on him, I don’t want to rush that call."

On whether Booysen is a doubt for the France game.

“At this point in time, yes.

“It could be maybe a five- to seven-day (injury). We’ve got a six-day turnaround, so it could be a week-long sit-out for him and hopefully (he’ll) be ready for the last one.”
