Montpellier vs Castres - Top 14 Round 1 Highlights

Defending Top 14 Champions Castres got the defence of their title off to the perfect start with a 25-20 away win over last seasons losing finalists Montpellier in the opening round. The first half was a tightly contested affair, with each side crossing for a single try and adding two penalties to head into the halftime break deadlocked at 13-13. 

Castres started the second half superbly, running in two early tries to take control of the match at 25-13. The hosts got themselves back into the match with a try reducing the deficit to just 5 points with a little under 20 minutes remaining. Montpellier threw everything at the Castres defence, but an amazing try saving tackle in the corner in the final few minutes kept the hosts out as Castres held on for an impressive victory.
