Ieremia takes over as Auckland rugby coach
Former All Black Alama Ieremia has been appointed as Auckland rugby coach for the next three years.
Ieremia, 47, will take over the role fulltime in January as he tries to improve the fortunes of a side that finished second bottom in the premiership division of this year's national provincial championship.
His coaching CV includes stints as assistant coach at Japanese club Suntory Sungoliath under Eddie Jones, Wellington under Jamie Joseph, and the Hurricanes under Colin Cooper and then Mark Hammett.
He became coach of Manu Samoa in 2016, resigning four months ago after the team finished bottom in the Pacific Nations Cup.

Racing 92 have announced that star tighthead prop Ben Tameifuna has signed a contract extension with the club that will see he remain at the Paris-based side until at least 2020.

Warburton set to miss 6 Nations
Sam Warburton is set to be out of action for 6 months & miss the 2018 6 Nations after undergoing "proactive" knee surgery. It was hoped Warburton would return to action this month for Cardiff Blues in preparation for the Welsh campaign in the 6 Nations. Warburton & WRU have chosen to take the procautions of having the surgery on his knee now and getting the British & Irish Lions captain 100% fit & ready for pre-season next year.
