North Harbour and Tasman could not be separated as it ended 27-27 in a thrilling round 9 Mitre 10 Cup encounter. Each side ran in one first half try and kicked two successful penalties as the sides were deadlocked at 13-13 at the break. Tasman picked up a yellow card and North Harbour took full advantage crossing for their second try to lead 20-13. Tasman responded ten minutes later with a try of their own to level things up again inside the final quarter of the match. Another yellow card to Tasman allowed North Harbour to capitalize and hit the front with their third try making it 27-20 with ten minutes remaining. Tasman hit back with their third try with five minutes to play to set up a tense finish. With time well up on the clock, Tasman were awarded a penalty about 50m out and a shot for the win. It was not to be however as it struck the post meaning the sides would have to settle for a share of the spoils.
