Mike McCarthy ruled out for the rest of the season

Stuart Lancaster has confirmed that Mike McCarthy will miss the rest of the season with a back and an elbow problem.

The 36-year-old lock had surgery in recent days on a disc injury in his back and will not be ready in time for the end of season run-in.

As a result, McCarthy has played his last game in a blue shirt having confirmed last month that he would be joining Narbonne in the French Pro D2 at the end of the 2016/17 season.
