Former Wallabies head coach Michael Chieka has been linked with another TOP14 club with Montpellier reportedly interested in bringing the Australian on board.
A few weeks ago, Montpellier sacked head coach Xavier Garbajosa after a poor run of form which has left the club in danger of being relegated.
According to Midi Olympique, Bordeaux coach Christophe Urios was on the shortlist to replace Garbajosa with current Director of Rugby Philippe Saint-André filling in his place as head coach.
However, Montpellier have reportedly abandoned their attempts of luring Urios to the club and have contacted Cheika instead.
Midi Olympique reports that Montpellier have approached Chieka to fill the vacant role after failing to claim his services after the Rugby World Cup. Chieka worked with the Argentina test team during the Tri Nations and has since taken the top job as the Lebanon rugby league head coach.
The report concludes saying that Chieka would only join the club in June later this year if the contracts are finalised.
