Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson says the club expect Manu Tuilagi to be fit by May.
Manu Tuilagi could make a late claim for a place in the British and Irish Lions squad having suffered an achilles injury in September last year and has been sidelined since.
Sanderson delivered the “brilliant” news that the 29-year-old is set to return next month.
“[We’re] saying May now, sometime in May,” said Sanderson.
“That’s brilliant isn’t it? [We’ll] get him back for some big games for the back end of the season.”
According to the Guardian, Warren Gatland will name his squad on 6 May, meaning the timeframe for Tuilagi to prove his fitness is tight, but it is understood that Gatland is planning on selecting an official standby list.
