KEY BATTLES: Wallabies v Los Pumas
- 1867
Australia and Argentina will both be looking to get their maiden victories of this year's Rugby Championship when they clash in Canberra on Saturday.
A win for either side won't come very easily with both sides playing out in morale boosting games last weekend with the Wallabies playing out to a draw against the Springboks and Argentina putting in a massive performance against the All Blacks.
The Battle of the Anchors
Augustin Creevy vs Tatafau Polota-Nau
Both packs have picked up plenty of slack for their scrum performance so far in the competition.
Both hookers will be hoping to impose themselves and dominate their opposition.
Creevy was a standout performer against the All Blacks and his counterpart has also been in fine fettle for the Wallabies.
The Battle of the Haymakers
Michael Hooper vs Pablo Matera
The new Wallabies captain has become such a consistent performer for his country that if he even has a slightly off day it is labelled as a poor performance.
Matera, on the other hand, has been a standout performer for Los Pumas so far in the competition starting all 3 games.
The Battle of the playmakers
Bernard Foley vs Nicolas Sanchez
Sanchez, along with Augustin Creevy, was picked in our team of the week last week and the Argentine will be hoping to emulate his form that saw him become the only player to score a drop goal, penalty, try and conversion against the All Blacks.
Foley has been in good form with the ball in hand but has been guilty of leaving points out on the pitch. The superior playmaker on the day could steer his side to victory.
Battle of the Midfields
Kurtley Beale & Tevita Kuridrani vs Jeronimo de la Fuente & Matias Orlando
Neither the All Blacks nor the Springboks were able to keep Kurtley Beale at bay with the second-five eight getting on the scoresheet in all 3 of the Wallabies test.
Kuridrani was used off the bench against the All Blacks in the first test and has gone on to start the other 2 test for the Wallabies.
De La Fuente & Moroni formed a stellar partnership in the absences of Matias Orlando, but the incumbent has returned to partner up with de la Fuente. They will have to be at their best defensively this weekend with Beale's exceptional skill with the ball in hand and Kuridrani's bulking runs.
