"We have several absentees in our squad following wounds or players selected for the World Cup so we started looking for an experienced profile to help our group's youth," commented Heyneke Meyer.
"Josh has played for the Scottish national team, has a lot of experience, but most of all, he will give us his leadership. I'm glad he joins the club. "
Strauss first evolved with the Lions province before flying to Scotland to join Glasgow.
The 32-year-old missed out on Scotland's squad for the Rugby World Cup and will now head to France before returning to Gauteng.
